About Shaw Chiropractic Dr. Tannis Shaw opened SHAW CHIROPRACTIC in Campbell River , B.C., in early 2000, and has been practicing there ever since. She graduated from high school in the Cowichan Valley and went directly to the University of Victoria where she completed a double major Bachelor's degree of Kinesiology and Psychology.
During her 6 years at UVic, she was the head trainer for the men's varsity rugby team (and also worked with many other athletes) and therefore has great experience with sports injuries, rehabilitation, stretching and prevention of injuries. It was through this experience with the athletes at UVic that Dr. Shaw learned about the profession of Chiropractic, and that Chiropractors are the doctors that specialize in treating nerves, muscles, and joints – all the same structures that get injured with sports! After graduating from UVic, Dr. Shaw was accepted to the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto for an additional 4 years of study.
Dr. Shaw has values working with other health care professionals in the community to help get patients better as quickly as possible, and understands that patients need to take an active role in their recovery by doing their prescribed home exercises – stretches and/or strengthening exercises given to them by her for their individual needs, for their particular condition.
Because it is important to work on the whole body and with other health care professionals, Dr. Shaw has two Registered Massage Therapists that also work in the office, so when you need both Chiropractic and Massage Therapy, you can book your appointments together.
